Hi8 to avi (dvd format)?
Got some kinda problem here. Back in '99 when the first kiddo was born I bought a video camera (as any dad with some self resepct would do). Ended up with a Hi8 camera, Sony, cost app £250 back then, and my wallet couldn't afford the first dvd cams (£800). Now I'm stuck with 18 hours of Hi8 cassettes that I (we) can only watch via the vidcam and cables. Anybody got any good solution to how to convert the tapes to avi files or similar? Currently working with a Pinnacle Video Transfer thingy (£110), that converts the shit, but it takes hours..... so far (8 hours in front of the pc) and I've got 3 hours of video as .avi files. Must be an easier and cheaper way to convert these tapes.... Please help... I'm running out of beer here as well.....
