Isolating vocal tracks

Post by matedog »

I am trying to decipher a vocal harmony part and my shit ears can't pick it apart from the main vocal. Is there any software that can take apart these tracks or other tracks (guitars, drums, etc.) in general?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

If you ever find this fabled software, use it to pump up Joe's vocals on CtC. And lower the backing vocals.

I tried isolating Joe's vocal and really all that's left is minimal percussion and the vocals and I still can't hear him on Cool Under Heat. Oh and the track I was working on, I was able to isolate the vocals, but not split the two vocals.

Apply that to the mastered track, but louder, and we've got Bernie by the balls.

Or send me the file.

I'm intrigued by any attempt to fix CtC, no matter how minimal.

I've used Adobe Audition 1.5 to do the same. Not perfect but does the job to a certain level.

Sorry for not responding to you and Marky. I'm sure I used Audacity and maybe this tutorial: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tut ... ation.html

It didn't work great. I remembered it sounding really spacey/echoy. I'd have to dust off the old laptop to try to track down the file, but it wasn't particularly good.

No worries. Don't put yourself out if it didn't sound so great. I was just fantasizing about having a decent (nearly) isolated Joe vocal.
