Is it what the rest of the world call Chow mein?

No. They're similar but not the same.

What's the difference? I may suggest this as a new line to a good Chinese Take Away-owning friend of mine.

When I was a kid there was only chow mein, then several years ago lo mein comes out to confuse everyone. Same thing. If I'm wrong, I don't care.

I don't know about anyone else, but it was pretty common in the 70s and 80s in Saskatchewan (perhaps still) for mothers to call any generic casserole they dreamed up with chow mein noodles on top to be called chow mein.

For about 15 minutes today I was thinking seriously about breaking up with Jack Black...as I got caught in the middle of an age-old family argument between his sister and the rest of his family this morning, and it really upset me. I've moved twice to get away from family feuds and here they are again, combined with the pain of him being on tour all the time. Piss.

I decided, instead of making myself far more upset by breaking up with him, to give him an ultimatum and reasonable solution. Which is that he has to move out of his parents house. Or else. He certainly has enough money and knows enough people to arrange for a renting-deal while touring.

That is my rant. Hurray for relationship testing.

And I love how this post is the opposite of what this thread's supposed to be about...

Ultimatums are never good.

Agreed. Either they don't work, which means you lose the dispute, or they do work, and then the other person harbors resentment.

I have seen this wreck marriages...especially when the latter occurs...I have never been a fan of giving them or receiving them...

That is just my two cents. Altho, Suze, your significant other may want to move out of his folks anyway...I am surprised when people still stay at their parents house...unless you are in a financial bind, or helping your family when in distress...otherwise, I would leave...

Ultimatums are bad, mmkay.

Besides, if he's touring a lot that may just be the reason he still lives at home. Why pay rent for an apartment you don't live in very often?

More advice from an old woman: Don't get involved in his family squabbles. You'll never win and it just makes you look bad.
