A/C or windows down?

Post by noyield »

When the weather is warm (not unbarebly hot, but warm) do you use the A/C in your car or do you just roll down?

We'd never owned a vehicle with AC till a few years ago, so once it gets hot, we don't hesitate. Otherwise, roll down the windows and use the regular fan.

Rarely fucking hot enough for either in this country.

It definitely gets hot enough here, but our summer's not long enough to make it ubiquitous. A friend of mine from Texas said she kind of enjoyed being in her hot Toronto apartment with the fan on. She had never known the feeling growing up in Austin, because as Wolter mentioned, everyone in the south has AC regardless.

Yeah. I can almost enjoy summer here in Chicago. Because it's just kinda hot for a while, not fucking hellishly swampy.

On the freeway, windows up. Otherwise, I dig em down. Bruce commands me to anyway.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

One very negative effect of air conditioning is that homes and offices are no longer built to take advantage of air flow. Older homes have clear lanes for a breeze to enter and exit a home, cooling things along the way, but new constructions normally eliminate it. Our apartment in NC accordingly roasted in the summer and froze in the winter.

I usually prefer windows down, but when it gets too hot I'll go AC (or, as matedog mentioned, when I'm on the highway). Oh, and if my allergies are acting up I go AC.

I voted AC because the idea of actually owning a car with AC fills me with delight at such whimsy. Sadly, all I can do is roll down the windows and still melt.

The Chamellion? Bit like a Chamelion but instead of changing colour it changes it's spelling ;)

A/C, depends on my Taxi driver, none on the Buses or tubes though
