Because, in coming from an American context, my irritation at the popular use of the word corporatism (and derivatives) comes as a result of its widespread use by left-Dems and Green Party types, i.e. domestic irritants. What reason would I have to reference, say, the Green Party of Illyria when referring to my being tired of the term's misappropriation by a certain segment of the politically active?

But I'm not a member of the American Green Party (nor the Canadian, for that matter). Your initial statement was addressed to my incorrect (in your view) usage of the term corporatist, which you justified as due to your irritation with "shrill Green Party liberals," a term that may or may not describe me—I dunno. I mean, if you're going to correct my usage based on your interpretation of the term, I have every right to be just as pedantic in dissecting your terminology, from the use of the word liberal to that of Green Party. Corporatist may represent one set of values to you in strict political philosophy, I won't deny that, but in common usage, especially in North American politics, it's understood to means in the service of multinational corporations. Which, of course, you know.

Don't forget the tone--I was making a gag.Your initial statement was addressed to my incorrect (in your view) usage of the term corporatist,
Explanation not justification--I feel that justification has a moral implication which is outside the scope of my gag.which you justified as due to your irritation with "shrill Green Party liberals,"
Not intended to refer to you at all.a term that may or may not describe me—I dunno.
Sure, but you could at least try to make it funny.I mean, if you're going to correct my usage based on your interpretation of the term, I have every right to be just as pedantic in dissecting your terminology, from the use of the word liberal to that of Green Party.
Incidentally I use liberal in both senses. It depends on the context.
I think it's valuable for corporatism to retain its original meaning, especially for those circumstances where it's compared with mutualism, Lenin's NEP, Stalin's collectivization, distributism, FDR's New Deal, and other theories/examples of economic reorganization.Corporatist may represent one set of values to you in strict political philosophy, I won't deny that,
Yes, and I would be OK with the common usage as such because I am a linguist before I am a grammarian--I prefer descriptivism. However, the popular definition has been used for fallacies of equivocation where fascist corporatism proper and vulgar corporatism are equated. An example:but in common usage, especially in North American politics, it's understood to means in the service of multinational corporations. Which, of course, you know.
http://www.dissidentvoice.org/Articles5 ... ratism.htm
Such fallacious usage irritates the fuck out of me and contributes to my general dyspepsia. I wouldn't be so particular as to this word if it were not for the widespread repetition of this idiocy. So it goes on the (quite short) list of words that irritate me or piss me off along with "gyp."
