That won't hinder any larger efforts at self-improvement.

I was going to object, but then I realized that I also find Voyager and Enterprise unwatchable, so that's three out of six series. I guess I am more of a critical Star Trek fan. I stand by TOS and TNG as mostly good on balance. DS9 is an incredible show and the best Star Trek out there. I've been happy to see it getting a critical reappraisal as so much of today's TV is made on the template of DS9. The show was ahead of its time, and honestly dealt with deeper themes than a lot of today's cookie-cutter prestige dramas that follow the same formula.

I break 'em down the same way. Excluding only a handful of episodes, I can be easily persuaded to watch any episode of DS9. TOS and TNG are generally much better than not, but there is still a fair amount of weak stuff there (most of TOS S3, TNG S1 and 2). The others, a handful of good episodes, but overall they don't inspire any investment. I can appreciate why DS9 didn't take off like TNG or TOS—a serial story requires a helluva lot more devotion than episodic—but it is the one for the more thoughtful and critical fan.

Solid character dragged down whenever Klingon religion/culture is raised. Yes, yes, please explain to me the significance of the yukpakfuh ritual, which is one of nine thousand crucial rites of passage to becoming a warrior zzzzzzzz. They come off as more bureaucratic than vikings.

My favorite part about Worf's klingon shit is that he doesn't act like a Klingon at all most of the time as he's a humorless dick.

One of those handful of episodes of DS9 that I alluded to earlier that I don't watch.

TNG episode, "The Game," was just one (boo dorky mystery-solving Wesley; yay super adorable Ashley Judd). Is it just me or does the evil alien have some suggestively shaped markings on her forehead?
