A confession: I've been reading Pitchfork pretty regularly of late. Once you get over the tremendously douchey review styles, they do serve to expose one to a lot of different kinds of music. And I've decided to make a concerted effort to expose myself more to new music.

A jogging of the 'ol memory: that reminds me of a flow chart I saw in a magazine (Radar?) about which indie rock chick is right for you. One of the opening questions was something about "what is the best pavement album" and if you answer "dont listen to pavement" thats the end of the excercise. It's kinda funny. I'll see if I can find it.

A defense: I've found out about some pretty good albums from them that I never, ever would have heard about otherwise (Deerhoof's Friend Opportunity for example). The actual writing is almost inconsequential since their reviews don't deter me from anything, they just let me know about more.
