Listening to Elvis Costello in the car got me speeding ticket. Dammit. I never speed and the one time I'm bopping along to Pump It Up and I get busted.
Could've been worse you could've been bopping along to Busted. ;)
I should have been watching the detectives a little better.
Excellent.

Judas Priest is an automatic 10mph boost to my speed.
Lovin' the turbo? (I'm so sorry for that.)
Here’s where I admit I have warm feelings for that admittedly not good song, as it was the first Priest song I heard.

Good lord. And you continued to listen to Priest with that intro? I was never a fan at all, but I remember how devastated a couple friends were when it came out. They thought SFV and DotF were the greatest albums ever recorded and Turbo just let the air out. (I wouldn't be surprised if Halford coming out sent them headlong into country music.)

Im surprised you wouldn't have at heard Breakin the Law or Living After Midnight at least in passing before Turbo Lover.

Side note and merits of the song aside how many people approved the production of that awful video. Mid 80s and lots of coke I suppose had something to do with it.

Mainstream success and bigger budgets really fucked with metal's essence as outsider music. In the same way, really, that huge sales in the late 60s and early 70s turned a more vibrant rock scene into the horrible dinosaur and prog stuff.

Yeah very true. By the end of high school, metal had gone pretty mainstream with hair and glam metal and a lot of tbe earlier core metalheads had been turning to speed metal.

Despite the snow, I can't be bothered to watch. Team from Alberta versus team from Toronto. Blech. People willing to sit in the cold to watch a game are loony.

I have, quite literallly, not heard about Shania Twain in a good decade. I would have guessed she had retired. Hope she's bundled up.

After a pointless time in the punk trenches - like a dude holding a gun in the Somme in the 1950s - I've grown to really enjoy the Judas Priests and the Iron Maidens of the world. "This stuff," I'd spit "is only a paltry 89% musically like the punk rock I like so much."

Room enough musically for everything. Problem for me I've got too many great punk rock bands to listen to before I go breakin' the law. ;)
