Fill in the blank. There are only a small number of acceptable answers.

IPAs are to beer as ________ is to music.
Let's go with Katy Perry or Taylor Swift.

Rationale: Something that's really popular and over-exposed despite being not all that good.

Judges...?

Yes you provide a very good rationale for your response.

I don't mind a good IPA - granted the market is flooded with them these days and some are not very good - but hit on the right one and I'll drink 'em all day.

I generally stick to stouts. Not sure I've ever had one that disappointed me.

That's me as well. I've certainly had bad ones though. Usually because some stupid hipster thought the way to make a good stout was to add a ton of hops.

IPA’s are to beer as Yacht Rock is to music.
Ill accept this answer. The most correct answer though is Phish. 101 and Flex need to study more.
Phish is the hazy IPA of Yacht Rock.

The downside of travelling and sampling more—you also find the shitty beer. There a Russian imperial stout that is brewed in Ontario by Wellington County that is laced with morphine or something. Just a perfect casual numbness.

IPAs are to beer as music that I like but that isn't to everyone's taste and it's okay to like different things is to music.
Yeah, it's fun to try different stuff. I never got too into the astringent big west coast style IPAs, but I'm really enjoying the hazy IPA trend - all the great hop aroma and flavor, but much softer on the pallet. And that creamy mouthfeel.

I've been meaning to try Brut IPAs. Probably not going to be up my alley, but always fun to try new things!
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

They are pretty good. I look forward to a cream stout trend sometime soon. Stout is good for you.

If you want to start a beer trend, just can it and make it hard to get.
