Re: Pets.
A wonderful moment in the ongoing meshing of new guy Luke into the household cat structure. Zoë was coming down the stairs and he lay in wait. When he leapt out at her, she just stopped, stared at him in what seemed like a “grow the fuck up, kid” way, and then walked off. And he didn't chase after her. I was so pleased. Unfortunately, Charlotte is still intimidated by him and runs, which means he chases. He jumped her the other day and in about five seconds shed enough fur to make it look like a bird had been killed. Still, one out of two …

When we moved into our house three years ago, the first thing Scout did was bust through the screen on the back porch door. We just said fuck it, and it's not her own little doggy door.

One of the first evenings after we adopted my sister's dog, we went out to a movie and left her out on the mudroom, which had a screen door. While we were gone, there was a short thunderstorm, which Ella was terrified by, so she bolted thru the screen, but luckily went only a couple houses down where she saw some people whom she thought would protect her. Which they did. Lesson learned about where we could leave her when we went out.

Shifty little bastards. We have a fenced in yard, so it's fine if we are home. We can't leave her outside when we aren't there, though. We have coyotes and other wildlife that could be dangerous for her.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑28 May 2019, 10:46amOne of the first evenings after we adopted my sister's dog, we went out to a movie and left her out on the mudroom, which had a screen door. (We had a fenced yard, maybe four feet high. No match for a terrified samoyed-husky.)

Yep - we are literally in a forest, which I love, because nature. But it can get a little scary for the dog.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑28 May 2019, 11:17amYikes. Do you have a security cam set up? Less for would-be thieves than for wildlife?JennyB wrote: ↑28 May 2019, 11:20amYep - we are literally in a forest, which I love, because nature. Re: Pets.
Aw, that's awful. I like snakes. I respect them. As long as they keep their distance, I'll keep mine. There are a lot of copperheads down here, and these black snakes are supposed to eat them, but damn if I'm still afraid to walk out in the grass during the summer.

Nah. It's mainly deer. I worry more about her trying to sneak out of the fence to chase them than anything.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑28 May 2019, 11:45amDo you have a security cam set up?
