That last panel is about 15% of the way to being a tribute to the cover of Action Comics #1

Who reads this comic?
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I'd vaguely heard of Mark Trail before reading the Comics Curmudgeon blog, but since then it's gained a mesmerizing hold on me. It seems like it should be straight-forward nature-adventure stuff, which would be boring. But there's this bad acid trip quality to a lot of it that keeps me coming back. To a much lesser degree, I've also become fascinated by Mary Worth, but for that I need Fruhlinger's snarky commentary. Maybe the fact that newsprint is dying has given the creators a freedom to go weird.

A friend got me into reading Mark Trail years ago. It took a while but soon I was laughing at all the unintentional humor. This is a favorite of mine from a great series about otter poaching. As I recall Mark got amnesia which explains the razor stubble.
Unfortunately the daily comics from that long ago dont seem to be available online.

How can that be unintentional? Mark Trail has been working a double entendre long con for decades. I know none of these people. I do however know there was a local restaurant where the staff acted out strips.

I hope Kelly Welly is still a recurring charachter.
