I'm an American. It's a fucking sweater. A jumper is something a girl wears:

You should feel awful that Matedog is more right than you on an issue.
No, you're both wrong.

Now that you're not "party affiliated" any more, you can just appreciate that it's a celebration of alcohol and explosives.
I'm probably going to use the three day weekend to write.

Gray-Nicolls, the company that made the sweater I wear, calls it a sweater:

So it's a jumper, is it now?

I used to have that exact same jumper, bought it in the sports shop Kilburn High Road (where I also bought my baseballl bat :shifty: ).
Pimms stained MCC Life Members may call it a sweater but in the real world its a jumper.

It's a good sweater and cool enough for summer wear.

Something else I rate: chewing/moving my jaw or stretching my arms when on junk--for some reason it feels great.

Ah yeah, I grew the facial hair to blend in with the construction types. The sunglasses i have for utility as summer sunlight gives me a fucking headache and those were $5 at the military surplus shop. I noticed that when wearing a Chelsea jersey and the sunglasses, I look incredibly douchey and slightly eurotrash, so I took a picture and put up the avatar.

I hope this doesn't sound too personal, but are you an Anglophile?

Not really. I like a lot of English stuff, but I don't fuck around with words like "bloke" and "bollocks," though I think a few phrases have leaked into my vocab as a result of posting here, reading John King, etc. But then, I tend to absorb those kinds of things anyway--get me in Maine for a week and my idiolect gets real New England hick. Also, if you'll notice, I tend to come down on the American side in most cultural debates on here barring sports.

I really don't sit well with any culture ultimately. Too much hybridity (internationalist yankee mother/communist southerner father) in my youth fucked up my sense of cultural belonging. I suppose someone might peg me as an Anglophile but they'd be forgetting my substantial interest in Jewish culture, or my identification with the Spanish Revolution, or my American tastes in jazz and soul. I don't even bother identifying myself as much of anything now.

Another point against my possible Anglophilia is that I like English stuff but I don't think of England as being intrinsically better. British TV for example is, on the whole, probably as crappy as American TV--I'll certainly not watch a show because it's English when it's a kind of show I wouldn't watch here. Also, barring John King and Graham Greene, I'm not all that into British literature, and considering I'm a writer, that's a pretty big aspect of my life. My top five in fiction and poetry are almost all Americans.

I think Suzanne's much more of a classic Anglophile.

I use either word. In an American context, I call it a jersey or else people think I mean a t-shirt. On a Chelsea blog I'd call it a shirt. I treat IMCT as an American context.

Also, the Dick Van Dyke thing's insulting, it's not like I walk around with a fake (bad) accent. Non-Italian AC Milan and non-Spanish Real Madrid supporters don't fake accents and neither do I. I'm American, not English. Just because I like Chelsea doesn't mean I have to become West Londoner.
