word. I found with whiskey, if I was still conscious and there was still whiskey, I'd drink it. So, I go for top-shelf-ish stuff in smaller quantities and don't have that problem. I have outsmarted myself!

I'm an idiot with gin tho. Can't stop myself.
Gin tastes like christmas trees. I am not a fan.
This may be the first time I have agreed with you on something.

You have a lower success rate than the Hookster and Eumaas.

The 5% includes special interest areas that revbob probably doesn't delve into, such as jazz.

Shiner Bock – I admit I enjoyed it when I was in Texas the other year – but once back home for whatever reason it didn’t cut the mustard – must be like Guinness – doesn’t travel well?

I just stocked up the fridge for the weekend (well actually hopefully for this weekend and the next, but you never can tell how long bottles will last). I tried to steer away from the Belgian style beer’s but failed quite badly. This weekend I will be selecting from
Maredsous
Gulden Draak
Unibroe’s witbier
Blonde Frog Ale
Affigem Triple

I got a group of single Czech beers to try as well but the names are a mystery to my brain at the moment

Anyone tried any of these offerings
http://www.fraoch.com/historicales.htm

someone got me a gift pack a few weeks ago and I was actually surprised that they weren’t that bad
The Gooseberry and Heather ones were actually pretty drinkable
The Elderberry one was just about drinkable
The Scots Pine was like a flat raspberry drink…weird and definitely one to share around so everyone can experience the flavor (ie I couldn’t drink it all myself)

That's entirely possible. I know tons of people from Texas that rave about it, but every one I've ever had has been underwhelming, to say the least.

I've tried a fair number of brews that are top notch in one part of the country and fall flat elsewhere. Just another reason* to get transporter technology up and running.

*Probably the most important reason, actually :shifty:

Imperfections in technology might yield flavor differences.

You mean when using the transporter?!

Yeah, no, you're right. And lots of times different smaller beers go through different batches anyways and the point is it won't taste the same every time - but there are still definitely some beers you want to drink closer to the original source.

So, like, from a teat attached to the side of the barrel?

Hell yes. That's why I transport my beers with Scotty's Wine & Spirits Transporters LLC. Scotty's always adds a hint of almond.

A recommendation from my basement serf. Local micro-brew, but quite nice.
