Jees how many attempts did that take? I presume there is only one correct combination.

Just the one but I guess just down to sheer luck.

Interesting how my young Flex?
I like Celtic - the politics are right - and my limited experience watching the sport is that I don't totally get Rodgers appeal. I get that he has past success, but I only know him from his final days with Liverpool, which were awful. I'm interested to see if he's a "get" for the team or if it turns out to be a mistake.

Man U has too much money, too many resources, for Mourinho to be really disastrous out of the gate. I think it's basically a given that he'll be someone you want for two years and probably not much longer.
Not the best start for Brendan Rogers:

Celtic have suffered one of the humiliating defeats in their history after losing 1-0 to Gibraltarian part-time side Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg of their Champions League second qualifying round.
Lee Casciaro's second-half goal made the difference at the Victoria Stadium and meant that new Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers was left red-faced, report the Daily Record.
Leigh Griffiths hit the crossbar twice as Rodgers' side pressed forwards, but they were unable to get anything from the game.
It was a poor display from the Scottish champions and the 1-0 scoreline was no less than the home side deserved after they more than matched their opponents.
In fact, Celtic should be absolutely mortified after arguably the most embarrassing result in the club’s history.
Lincoln Red Imps 1-0 Celtic. It has to be read a few times to be believed.

Sam Allardyce, Steve Bruce, Glenn Hoddle and Jurgen The Swimmer.
Jurgen fucked up the USA job, Hoddle has had a shot at England job and failed at that along with every managers job he has had.
Big Sam has done some good things, as has Bruce but not near international level. Maybe that is the chance they need? But if you are going to go with an untested appointment why not Eddie Howe. To be fair any of those 3 could no worse than what we have had.

Has he? I'd be curious to hear more about this perspective. Klinsmann has his faults, but I think he's largely doing what he was brought in to do for the US.

That said, it doesn't sound like he's a front-runner and I wouldn't see him being a good fit anyways.

I was referring to the 4th place at a weak Copa America last month on the back of 4th place at 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Missed opportunities? USA want shot of him too.

So Big Sam is the man!!! Obviously disappointed Hes but what do you think?

Recall for Jermaine Defoe?

Personally I think we've tried the European manager, the tactical genius manager, the nice guy manager. What the hell why not Big Sam he really can't do any worse and at least he will put some fight into them which was badly lacking at Euros.

The Gold Cup sucked, but the Copa finish was tied for our best finish in that event, so it's hard to feel to bent out of shape about that. Losing to Columbia isn't the worst humiliation in the world. Klinsmann's emphasis on the US player development system has been something US soccer sorely needed. I dunno, fans grouse but he seems to have brought the overall us soccer system forward during his tenure.

I won't call it a huge injustice if he's shown the door, but it's not clear to me that some of the recent disappointing losses for the team are really on Klinsmann, primarily.

Totally agreed mate, all an England manager needs is common sense and the bottle to pick in-form players. The day an England manager starts disregarding reputations and chooses players on merit is the day we might win something.

Disappointed on a personal level, but can't blame Sam. Best of luck to him.

Told you it wouldn't take long, headline in Mirror linking Defoe with England recall :)

On a serious note if It means in form players get picked I have no problem with that. Fitting the so called best 11 players into a team hasn't worked for the past 50 years.

Thinking about it I blame Ron Greenwood for England's current mess. Shilton and Clemence were both world class goalkeepers but you can't have two in a team so the next best thing is to alternate them game after game. That has to be the dumbest coaching move ever and set the tone for all coaches trying to fit their players into a team rather than the best player for each position.

I think England actually had a great team back in the seventies. They were just unfortunate to get Italy in the qualifiers in the days when the World Cup was just 16 teams. Oh, and Poland, clown keeper etc.
