I'd never heard of it in the UK until the early 80s. I think it had a big launch over here because one minute it wasn't there, then it was absolutely everywhere.
I remember it as a kid in the 70s and 80s, but it didn't have the hipster hype until more recently.

Might explain why I never had it as a kid then. I’m sure there was some sort of chocolate spread though. I used to eat marmalade.

By the time I was in high school in the early 90s it was popular among a lot of friends of mine.
