I've been pretty good with the eating lately. Last night we had homemade coleslaw and BBQ rubbed chicken thighs. It was damn good and low calorie. The dieting is definitely hurting my stamina and desire to exercise. I've been eating a Kind bar before going to the gym but that only gives me a little boost and then I get winded 20 minutes in.

We just got the Nutribullet and I like it a lot. I've been enjoying banana smoothie which I call Monkey Shakes because it sounds more fun.

Down 10 lbs. since mid-March. Hungry, sober, grumpy.

I watched Wheel of Fortune last night and seeing the contestant's physiques improved my body image.

If you really want to feel good about yourself, take a trip to Six Flags. Especially in MO.

Ha! I posted a few months ago about my experience Facebook searching various people I knew from high school and being both horrified by how goddamned old they looked and by how much better I look in comparison. A historian who sparked my interest in the work back when I was an undergrad once said that it's actually not that hard to become a star in one's field mainly because most people, once they get tenure, just stop trying (or they focus their attention on other things, like family). Those who actually keep at it and try stand out by that alone. The older I get, the more I see it as a general truism.

The Berlin Raceway just outside of Grand Rapids had the same effect.

Limited drinking. Dinners out, ballgames, and meeting friends at the pub but no booze in the house.

Down 15lbs. This little thing is helping a lot. I make smoothies with yogurt and fruit in the morning and make ice shakes with berries in lieu of ice cream.

We're eloping in October so and I have another 10lbs I want to loose.

Smoothies are typical East Coast liberal elite food. Do you drink them with Susan Sarandon and Nancy Pelosi while taking a knee?

I bought berries in Maine at a proper farm stand last week.
