Is Salad Cream just mayo?
They stock it at my local grocery. Maybe I should buy some and see. :meh:

I think it is a more liquid mayonnaise.

Salad cream is a creamy, pale yellow condiment based on an emulsion of about 25–50 percent oil in water, emulsified by egg yolk and acidulated by spirit vinegar.

To clarify no Salad Cream is not mayo. Different taste, texture everything.
However what is important to point out here is that ‘salad cream’ is a generic term for pretend, cheap, mayo-like dressing ( presume that is like your Miracle Whip?).
If you go into a supermarket in UK there will be an aisle of different ones and most are inedible.
What we are talking about is Heinz Salad Cream which is its own beast and is as different in taste from most other salad creams as tomato sauce is from mayo.

Let us Americans not get on our high horses about food. We do love that godawful shit that is mayonnaise.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I enjoy a little in small quantities on certain sandwiches. I buy mayo every so often and it expires long before I finish it.

I either make my own in small quantities (it’s really easy with a stick blender) or use Just Mayo (which is the only vegan mayo worth crap) because it’s a bit less fatty.

The Boss bought some harissa vegan mayo that's wonderfully spicy. It's hot enough that you don't want to use a lot. It ends up being a creamier alternative to mustard.
