I don’t use the term although I think sports are generally the most boring thing on television.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

To appreciate a sports match to the fullest you need an emotional attachment. If you don’t have that I can see why some people dont get it.

I got into it for a while (and I can enjoy a game in person but not on TV). But the whole Sisyphean quality of championships means I can't really get that invested. Nobody ever actually wins.

The biggest problem for me though was moving to Chapel Hill where college basketball is huge and the fans incredibly obnoxious and omnipresent. That definitely killed it for me.

Sports or music or anything else: fans ruin everything. (That's one of the themes I not-so-subtly push in my rock seminars.)

If you think a Chsmpionship is Sisyphean you really don’t get it.
For me it is only about the next game which will determine my mental state until the following game.
If you follow football it is all about the moment.

What I mean is the focus on championships is a little funny given it all resets the next year. In the myth of Sisyphus, we characterize a reset after great effort to be a kind of futility, but it never occurs to people to consider it futile in sports.

Not trying to start shit here. Just wanted to give the perspective of someone who doesn't like sports. I do still watch it now and then, but generally lose interest after about an hour.

I watch the Superbowl every year as my friend always throws a party.

I understand your point
For example test cricket. The top tier nations play against each other and when you win a series against a top team you think great, then you might win the next series. If you are really good you could win several in a row but then you lose and it is all pointless. It is always only a matter of time before you lose.
Football is different ( for me anyway). Every win is a triumph until the next game. Winning titles is fantastic but only until the next game. A fan of the team bottom of the bottom division is no less excited or hurt but victory or defeat.
