I can't remember what year I joined, but I'm pretty sure it was before 2006 aka the year I lost my dog of 16 years. I moved to upstate NY, gained three cats in 2008, suffered from anxiety and depression for the next eight years, gained almost 40 pounds, moved again, lost a cat, lost the weight, had health issues, finally getting my life back on track even starting a new job tomorrow.

I can actually tell you when you joined to within a month: summer of 2004. I wasn’t online for a few months during my move (no smartphone/internet), and you were kind of established by the time I got back in September.

I'm trying to remember exactly when I started posting (as opposed to lurking). Sometime during college (so, 03/04-ish?). Anyways.

Was in college in Massachusetts. Interned on political campaigns and in Washington DC. Finished college. Lived on Cape Cod for a cup of coffee. Moved back to Colorado. Did the ski bum thing for a season. Ran a state senate campaign. Won that campaign. Worked at the state capital. Began a long stint doing consultant work after that. Ran for Town Council and won. Began Doctor Who podcast with Silent Majority that is, weirdly, actually listened to by at least a few folks. After about a decade consulting and living a ski-100-days-per-year bachelor lifestyle (while being very poor), took a corporate gig doing government affairs work that finally transitioned me from living paycheck to paycheck. With a couple years of Town Council under my belt, ran for Mayor and won. Got serious about my health and lost about 100 pounds, took up running. Took the plunge and started online dating. Immediately got lucky and found a lady who would put up with my nonsense. Got engaged in England while traveling to attend Silent Majority's wedding. Mayorship concluding in April... wedding this September... more still to come, no doubt...

IMCTers I've met in real life (not chronological, I don't think):
-matedog - in Chicago during the great drinkathon with Wolter and when he came out skiing
-Wolter - per above, also met Mrs. Wolter for a hot second
-Spiff - multiple ski trips plus Elvis Costello show
-BostonBeaneater - drank a few at the Dillon Dam Brewery
-revbob - multiple meetings in Colorado hoisting a pint. Took in a Rockies game once.
-Rat Patrol - Fun meetup in Boston with Boddington, more drinking involved!
-Boddington - as above, but also an old college roommate
-tepista - drinks and Jerry Lee Lewis in LA!
-Silent Majority - besides talking monthly (at least when my internet is working at home), spent time together on two trips to England - the latter of which was for his and Mrs. Silent Majority's wedding

Am I embarrassingly forgetting any in-person encounters?

Addendum: So guessing I've been on this site 15ish years. Enough to grow up, be stupid, get smarter, sell out and settle down. Wild.

Mrs Silent Majority wasn't best pleased that she had to take on my internet pseudonym for signing cheques and stuff, but I'm a traditionalist.
