Yeah I'm down with this too. It's a throwback to a true golden era of baseball.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 10:39pmYES.

Epstein’s book is aces. Up, Up and Away by Jonah Keri is a must too. One of the reason I’m friends with Jewish boys my age is their love of baseball and dank weed.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 10:59pmDefinitely. Baseball's become way too serious. Anything that recovers aspects of 1970s baseball, when things were seriously loopy, is aces to me. If you've never read Dan Epstein's Big Hair and Plastic Grass, rectify that immediately. It makes a good argument for the 70s being the best decade of baseball ever because it embraced every silly idea and ran with it.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 10:39pmYES.

About the Expos, damn right! I read that when it first came out and I was a kid again, remembering those late 70s, early 80s Expos teams that made me fall in love with baseball.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑01 Feb 2018, 11:43pmEpstein’s book is aces. Re: MLB 2018
Thanks for letting me know! I'll be all over that. As I've mentioned before, those Expos teams taught me that baseball is about broken hearts. They fell just short in 1979, losing 3 of 4 to the Pirates in the second-last series of the season. They lost the division again against the Phillies on the last series of the season. And then 1981, finally making the post-season, and that ratfucker Rick Monday beat them in 1981. I have a number of Red Sox people I hate—Calvin Schiraldi and Grady Little, notably—but no Yankees, really (contempt, but no rage-hate). But I despise Rick Monday for fucking up my shit when I was 12. My social studies teacher played game 5 on the radio and when they lost, I still remember how hollow I felt inside. Just eviscerated. Adult me knows he was just doing his job, but I can't get past the pain he caused 12-year-old me. Gun to my head, I've never loved any Red Sox team like I loved the Expos, 1979–1983 or so.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑05 Feb 2018, 7:29pmFYI https://www.downthedrive.com/platform/a ... ssion=true

If the Darvish details are correct, I have no problem with this deal.

Did the Cubs ever have any interest in re-signing Jake?
