When do the Christmas decorations come down?

Sweet action for kids 'n' cretins. Marjoram and capers.

My wife is 1/4 Ukrainian, so we celebrate until the 8th or something, as they supposedly do.

Saskatchewan has a notable Ukrainian population and there was always some resentment towards Ukrainian kids because they seemingly double-dipped—25 Dec and then a couple weeks later, too. We made up for it via soft bigotry the rest of the year.

Also, B is quite rigid about taking everything down 2 January.

My 20s were pretty much "take it or leave it" with Xmas, but being with Maggie for 9 years has boosted my spirit since hers is like the Grinch at the end of his tale. The whole season seems to move so fast though, you don't really get time to relax into it.

I aim for sometime shortly after NYD. A few extra days won't kill anyone, but it starts getting sad pretty fast. I'm into the idea of celebrating through the epiphany tho.

Yeah...enough Catholics in New England that Three Kings Day is more or less the official date, and on the morning of the 7th everyone's dead Christmas tree is out by the curb.

Sometime in February or March is when the local towns start handing out fines for keeping your garish Christmas lights and front-yard inflateable light-up Santa on every night.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Maybe, it was in July and I didn't post anything about it on FB. It did come up in passing here around the time, but I didn't make a thread about it or anything (yes, it's the same girl you met!).

Nice! She's cool in my book because she put up with my bullshit.

I guess that can be said of most significant others of our members.
