“The only reason Barry didn’t see a doctor right away is because he didn’t have adequate health insurance and he didn’t want to rack up huge medical bills while we were already dealing with my huge medical bills.”

I hate this country.
Yeah a choice of racking up huge medical debt that you cant pay off or being dead with no debt.

Not to mention the quality of treatment you can get without insurance is going to vary a great deal.

It truly is insane that in a country with this much wealth that people have to make choices like this. As a divorced father of 2 small kids - I’ve cut back on stuff like dental care and mental health visits for myself so I could cover their dental and doctor appointments and I have insurance. I’d go if something really concerned me, but even with the kids - when I hear they have a cavity or something my automatic first thought is how much is it going to cost?

Canadian country music legend Ronnie Prophet: http://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/ob ... -1.4559843

In the 70s and early 80s, his tv show always seemed to be on. I hated country music back then, but I might be more open to him now.

David Ogden Stiers (Maj. Winchester on MASH). In recent years, I've come to appreciate the post-ha ha seasons of MASH, and it's mainly for the episodes where the old-money snob Winchester is faced with human frailty (e.g., a pianist who loses nerve function in a hand, a stutterer). My favourites, tho, are when he has a near-death experience and becomes obsessed with understanding what happens when people die, and the series finale, when he tries to create a string quartet from some Chinese POWs. His was the character who showed that redemption was possible.

In 2009, the actor revealed publicly that he was gay. He told ABC News at the time that he had hidden his sexuality for a long time because so much of his income had been derived from family-friendly programming, and coming out thus might have had repercussions in the past.
