Never saw the Dave Barry show, tho.
I don't remember it being good.
Reflective of Dave Barry, I suppose. He made me laugh once—at least I think it was him—when he was interviewed and described being a columnist as akin to being married to a nymphomaniac. At first you think, wow, this is fun, everything I ever dreamed of. Then it becomes a lot of work and then it turns into outright dread and avoidance.
I used to read his books like crazy when I was a kid but I haven't looked at one in probably more than 20 years.

The boss bought me one for unknown reasons when we started dating. I dutifully read it, shelved it, and it was quietly disposed of at a future date.

I thought it was a title of some sort like MD.

Dave Berry is gateway humor for little kids, I think.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I had his book about the worst songs ever written. It was pretty funny, but a very slight "tome". I do remember reading his column when I was younger - it was in the local paper every Sunday and thinking it was funny.

I actually thought Harry Anderson was already dead (not sure why). He was good on Night Court...and also was in the original TV movie version of "It"!

I had that songs one too, I think it's the only one I would consider re-reading at this point, mostly because it's really hard on Neil Diamond, which I support.

I recall he got quite a bit of hate mail regarding his comments about Neil Diamond! There is one passage where he criticizes the lyrics to "I Am, I Said" and it is absolutely hilarious!

Is that the one where Neil is upset that nobody talked to him, "not even the chair?" I remember Dave's response to that being pretty funny.

For any of my fellow NPR listeners...just saw the iconic Carl Kasell of "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!" fame passed away today.

Awww, dammit! Now I will never get his voice on my answering machine. (That's supposed to be the crying emoji, but for some reason it looks like the angry emoji).
