I saw Pedro Baez in person last year TWICE. What a way to ruin an evening.

Eric Gagne and Ryan Dempster are both pitching for Canada in the WBC. X(
Wait. They're still active players?
No, but they're functional enough to play in the tournament. Gagne actually pitched for the semi-pro team here in Ottawa last fall. Signed right before their playoff run. If I had gone to any of those games, it would have been hard not to boo the fuck out of the juicing catastrophe.

Heh. Of course the mystery buyer is Jared Kushner's dad (a.k.a. Ivanka Trump's father-in-law): http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1865 ... frey-loria.

I think the WBC should feature more recently-retired MLB'rs. Fun way to see guys who aren't quite up to snuff in the majors anymore but can still destroy Euro baseball. And it would help take pressure off of current MLBrs who want to balance national pride with, like, not injuring themselves in a basically meaningless tournament.

Addendum: LOL Loria selling the Marlins to the Trumpsters.

Addendum II: The runner on second in extras thing is dumb as hell. Baseball is perfect as-is and people who don't get that can go fuck themselves.

Boy, you're gonna have to launder a lot of real expensive veteran contracts to reach those odds. Has Arte thought about claiming A-Rod on waivers?
