I remember watching an episode back in the 80s where Wapner ruled in favour of a guy whose pets died due to the defendant's negligence, but awarded him, like, $50 per pet. The plaintiff properly went apeshit on Wapner and stormed out, at which time Wapner ordered him held in contempt. Then, fade to black, the producers explained that since this is binding mediation, Wapner does not have the authority to hold anyone in contempt.
