The weirdest thing about making the NHL playoffs is that your reward as a fan is basically 2 months of constantly stressful games. If you're lucky.
Definitely. Nothing quite like it in sports. 😎

Leafs played really well last night, save for our goalie's OT whiff. Washington was gifted a few bounces/good luck on their first two goals, but I thought we dominated early and at least kept up with the Caps for periods 2 and 3. Bring on Saturday.

EDIT: adorably, one of our top players lives with his mom.

When you post stuff like that whenever anyone expresses genuine excitement on this board, are you just posting to snark at the idea of people enjoying themselves?

Like, the Leafs weren't gonna win the Stanley Cup, but it was a nice little run from a team of raw rookies for a fanbase that's been the laughingstock of hockey for the past several decades.

Fuck off.

Can't we all just get along and be happy that Boston has been eliminated?

I'm assuming there's great confusion here in town. You tend to see more Habs gear than Sens on the streets, so Montreal going out and Ottawa moving on must be baffling. I remain uninterested.

(Good season, tho, Inder. I do find it cool when the fans cheer their team after getting eliminated, that awareness and appreciation for a fun ride.)

Despite being from Montreal weren't the Habs sort of Canada's team at one point because of their successes? I mean before the merger you had Montreal and Toronto in the NHL and people being what they are latched on to the winning team for the most part.(The Ottawa team had been dormant for years).

At least that was my view as a kid growing up in America.

The Bruins made a decent fight of it but having watched them intermittently, my opinion the whole season was they were punching above their weight class.

Sorry about the Leafs, Inder. If it's any consolation, someday I hope Canada becomes a real country and not just a figment of the queen's imagination.

Bruins/Rangers would have been fun. I still don't accept the Senators as a real team.

I mean, what the hell is this:

I could be way off base here, but I don't think we've ever had "Canada's team." The Habs being from Quebec would exclude them because of the language/cultural thing (soft bigotry that runs on both sides of the street). Same thing for the Oilers in the 80sβ€”Alberta is too much of an asshole sheep of the family. Closest would be the Leafs as there are Leafs fans all across the country, more than any other team. More of "loveable loser" Cubs thing, tho.
