Surprised that no one mentioned that in addition to SISOSIG, a bit of “This Is Radio Clash” is played during an episode in season 2.
Also, in an interview w/ Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers, he says that Winona Ryder gave him a Clash tour t-shirt. Wonder which shirt.
“I can't remember how far [into filming] we were, but she was like, ‘Charlie! I got you a present!.’ And because Jonathan's really into the Clash, [she gave me] a Clash tour t-shirt. An original she got when she had gone to see them when she was younger. She was like, ‘I used to go and watch the Clash a lot and I got this shirt, but I want you to have it.’ So that was such a special present. I still have it -- I've got it on me.”
“I would wear that everywhere. I found it kind of funny though that the Clash was Jonathan’s favorite band. Are you a big fan yourself?”
The last time the Clash played in the US, Winona was 12 years old, lucky to have seen them if that's the case.
Yeah, probably not a tour tee.
i saw them when i was 12, didn't see winona there though
‘I used to go and watch the Clash a lot...’
A lot?
Sounds like it
"I just had to retire an old Clash T-shirt from the first time I saw them in 1980 because it was so incredibly thin and just disintegrating. But I ended up framing it. I inherited my fathers ‘archivist’ gene, so it’s really hard for me to let go of things." https://www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashio ... style-90s/
Also a big Replacements fan apparently. She has an interesting background/childhood, so I'm buying it.

Hmmm. If she saw them in 1980 she would have been 8 years old. Now I've heard of progressive parenting but this just sounds a bit of a stretch.
And I'm not sure they would have sold tour t-shirts in little girls' sizes.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

If she was wearing it up until recently, as she asserts I'm that interview, it would have to have been an adult-size shirt, no?
Starting to go see the clash at age 8 sorta seems a stretch, although my parents definitely took me to concerts as a kid so I dunno. It would be a peculiar thing to arbitrarily lie about, but good for her if she's concocted a reasonably elaborate fake background of her life.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

Yeah. VH, jr. has already seen Blondie, Violent Femmes/Echo and the Bunnymen and the Pixies. So it's not outside the realm of possibility. And her parents were probably far cooler than I, so I believe her.
Got a Rake? Sure!
