I've had it a couple times and each time was struck by how damned doughy it is. Reminds me of the homemade pizza my mother would make. And that's not a good thing.matedog wrote:People like to shit on PJs, but it tastes good. *edit* okay we do have them here, but not anywhere near where I lived in SF. Apparently they are not too far from me now in Oakland, but I'll probably stick to Indian Pizza or another local joint that does very bay area pizzas. Ooh! The special today is roasted pork w/ tomatillo Sauce, Red Onions, Mozzarella and Cotija Cheeses
Served w Housemade Hot Sauce and Spicy Pickles

I've opened up to toppings that aren't just pepperoni on a pizza. Spinach, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, chillis, and pepper are delicious with lots of cheese and pepperoni.
Re: The Mighty Pizza Thread
I don't mind spinach on Pizza but I don't get the value add, at least not taste wise, it seems more of a visual thing to me.Silent Majority wrote:I've opened up to toppings that aren't just pepperoni on a pizza. As for Papa John's I've admittedly have never had it and likely never will. I envision a nightmare scenario of being stuck in a situation where I'm invited to someone's place and they order Papa Johns and serve it with Coors light.

You can add it to the point that you taste it, which is not really my thing. Cooked spinach in general is kinda gross.revbob wrote:I don't mind spinach on Pizza but I don't get the value add, at least not taste wise, it seems more of a visual thing to me.Silent Majority wrote:I've opened up to toppings that aren't just pepperoni on a pizza. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I would tend to agree with this most green leafy stuff should not be cooked. It burns too easily and that tastes bad. A local place will do broccoli which again tends to burn a bit and tastes nasty.matedog wrote:You can add it to the point that you taste it, which is not really my thing. I kinda like charred brocc. If I'm putting greens on pizza (arugula!), it better be raw thrown on top after the pizza comes out of the oven.revbob wrote:I would tend to agree with this most green leafy stuff should not be cooked. I guess I should clarify. It depends on the cooking method. I just don't like it when they get charred and if you cook a pizza on thrm they get charred. Light steaming or sauté is how I cook greens.Kory wrote:WHAT? What about collard greens?revbob wrote:I would tend to agree with this most green leafy stuff should not be cooked. I still remember the days as a student when food choice was dictated by price, availability, price, and price.
