Yeah, I realized recently that I lived in Chicago proper only one year less than I actually lived in Charleston proper. Admittedly, I have another 18 years until I'm in the Midwest as long as I was in the South.

Edit: two years longer in Charleston. I forgot I spent a year in Evanston.

I surpassed the Boston > Connecticut longevity mark last year. My high school friends still have standing shoot-to-kill orders if I omit a single R in my pridefully neutral diction from too many years of mutation-by-exposure. I will thankfully get through my 20th reunion next year with not a single bullet hole or derisive Sully joke.

My siblings, however, still can't even spend a week's vacation in some silly-accented locale without coming back and having their pronunciations all randomly messed up for days.

Probably. The Pittsburgh accent is kind of odd when you first hear it. Living in NY makes me sound weird even to myself.
