Edit: two years longer in Charleston. I forgot I spent a year in Evanston.
I surpassed the Boston > Connecticut longevity mark last year. My high school friends still have standing shoot-to-kill orders if I omit a single R in my pridefully neutral diction from too many years of mutation-by-exposure. I will thankfully get through my 20th reunion next year with not a single bullet hole or derisive Sully joke.

My siblings, however, still can't even spend a week's vacation in some silly-accented locale without coming back and having their pronunciations all randomly messed up for days.

Based on speaking with you, I will attest to the validity of this. I pretty much imagine you in a Mean Joe Greene jersey working in a steel mill. :D

The relative novelty of it all for me made it more intense than it probably was. Kind of like when B and I first moved to NC and the first couple weeks were like being in an entirely foreign country in terms of communication.

Well, the Maine and Virginia hotspots make sense. Not sure how you got all Hollywood, though.

Probably. The Pittsburgh accent is kind of odd when you first hear it. Living in NY makes me sound weird even to myself.

My wife just took it, and she did get a red spot on Chicago, but also Florida and SoCal/the Southwest. I guess it's the residual New York Jewish accent she gets from her parents. :shifty:

So interesting. I got Denver (where I grew up) and Overland Park, KS (about halfway between MJV and Denver).

I did it again and got essentially the same results, but even redder in Colorado and New England and whatever idioms/accents of the South and Midwest I'd picked up I seem to have basically lost: https://nyti.ms/2E7wL6S

Instead of Illinois, now I'm in Kansas and Oklahoma. That seems an unfortunate development.
