I think you have just about every book I have 🤔
Is that ‘the’ Townsend book that kept him out of jail?
I don't think he was ever going to jail.
Not over the kid porn thing? Wasn’t looking good there for a while.
All depends on your view of Pete's reason for searching the internet's dark web. There is no previous evidence of any wrong doing. I think his biggest crime being naievety.
I agree with you but that doesn’t always mean the judicial system does.
Townsend was extremely stupid about this serious subject and he knows it. However it didn't help with the press wanting him to be the next Gary Glitter. With operation Yewtree being all over the news around this time. Trouble is certain members of her majestys (ahem) finest wanting to make names for themselves.

Exactly, the book being his alibi. Didn’t he use his own credit card to access some of that stuff. No one seriously into that stuff is that naive.

I want to believe Pete and true there's been no long simmering rumors or claims of any kind that Im aware of but his explanation still kind of came off like OJ's claim that he was gonna find the real killer.

Yes exactly he wasn't hiding anything. Pete isn't a stupid man but he should've given his actions way more thought.

The explanation of "doing research" does seem lame. But I give him the benefit of the doubt. Not because I like him but because he was open about it.

I've not grown a beard in years. I don't know how people deal with the itchiness.
Everyone says that the itchiness eventually goes away, but I've never lasted past, I think, Day 12. I was a couple days away from wandering the Overlook with an axe.
I've had a beard since 1987; the itchiness goes away around year 5.

IIRC from the book, he used his CC to access legal stuff but the parent company also owned a subsidiary hosting illegal pictures and all the transactions went through one point of sale account. I don't think they ever found a single illegal picture on any of his devices so his alibi doesn't seem that far-fetched to me. Then again, I love The Who so I do want to believe him.

Never had any itchiness with a beard. Actually, shaving irritates my skin far more.

Oddly, if I don't shave every day or every two days, shaving after that causes skin irritation. Keeping my face like an infant's butt is best done by shaving every day.

While you guys are growing beards, I'm letting my Jewfro fly. Maybe the upside of this whole thing is that my hair will be healthy again.

I'm at two weeks now and the itchiness is real.

I still can't grow facial hair for shit. Mustache and neck are decently full. The itchiness is most in the neck.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

My facial hair growth is awful, so I'm still dutifully shaving daily (or every other day).
