Edward Albee, American playwright, passed away a couple of days ago.

a personal footnote: Besides reinventing American theater, Mr. Albee was also an enthusiastic supporter of the visual arts. Through a series of circumstances about 25 yrs ago the stuff I as making (mostly drawings & handmade books) showed up on his radar. He seemed to have an affinity for what I was doing and I was fortunate to benefit from his time and generosity, both as a collector and exhibition curator. He was a good guy.

I can't believe I didn't post about it here, but he was one of my all time favorites. My proudest moment on stage was playing Jerry in Zoo Story, which has a 20 minute long monologue.

Seeing Vin Scully retire after 66 years, he figured it was safe to quit.
