Chuck, trust me when I say this: if the archives ever open up, you will see threads FAR more embarrassing.

Mostly from Hoy...

Hey Inder, no rush on those archives, alright?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The bit about the ale had me chortling. Well done to all concerned.
So what does Marconi playing the mamba mean? "Marconi" is referring to the radio itself. It plays a deadly snake. The snake - the mamba - is slithering from the speakers. Ready to kill greedy corporations. Ready to free the world of all that is evil, and to leave behind only the youthful idealism encompassed by the tenets of rock and roll.

Should we start a Great Posts thread? If so, I'd nominate this one from the almighty Heston: http://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic.p ... ne#p221407

Can we switch to posts where Heston makes an ass of himself?

Just search for "Heston" and "Poll."

Thankfully the Archives cut off before the Vince Thread became living death.

I still contend that "No Topper, No Clash...Period" was the greatest thread in the entire history of this board. It's like the grand unified field theory of loving The Clash to hate them expressed in 42 pages of tears, laughter, personal attacks, psychological trauma, and hawt manpile make-up sex.

That and every thread that spawned a longstanding meme. I would love to read through "Internet Gay Cannibalism Net Widens" again...where we first discovered how deliciously whimsical Germany is. Or get a refresher course on why we'd never last 48 hours in an anarchist state. :shifty:
