No, just the browser. I've also got a feeling it's a memory issue, but my computer's new, should have loads of RAM.Dr. Medulla wrote:Sounds more like a CPU / memory issue to me. Are you running other apps at the same time as your browser?

I don't know much about Windows, so I don't know the proper terminology, but have you installed any recent add-ons that work in the background (system stuff)? If you have an app that monitors CPU usage and memory allotment, that might be worth checking, to see if and and when things spike.Heston wrote:No, just the browser. Bingo. If you press ctrl+alt+del you should be able to get to the task manager, which has a cpu usage monitor. It's still a little odd that nothing else is affected though.Dr. Medulla wrote:I don't know much about Windows, so I don't know the proper terminology, but have you installed any recent add-ons that work in the background (system stuff)? Re: Can any computer boffins help me?
Recalling my recent problems with an overheating CPU, as far as I could tell, it was only web browsers that showed any strain. As I understand it, the problem had to do with graphics/video processing overtaxing the CPU. I suppose a worst case scenario for Heston is a malfunctioning video card, but that seems strange for a recent model.Flex wrote:Bingo. Yup that's it... video software and pics software running along with adobe-shite with every start-up... delete the lot....Dr. Medulla wrote: Recalling my recent problems with an overheating CPU, as far as I could tell, it was only web browsers that showed any strain. Try deleting the softwares that are listed in your "start" folder... (start/programs- start folder or whatever it's called in english, and delete the lot, so that the cpu doesn't get filled up with loads of unnecessary software running, and do down the level on the antivirus software...) Had the same problem on my lap-top some moths ago, and that fixed it for me.
Good luck.

I thought a boffin was some sort of pastry. Or doorhandle.
