I'm back and glad this board is back, but very sad Nikola Hellboy is gone, he was a dear friend and I met him the first time when he was about 12 years old over 22 years ago. Thanks Rat Patrol for opening this thread.

It was triple hard for all those who knew him because we didn't get to bury him in Paris, and had to wait about two weeks until the body was released by the authorities from the medico-legal institute. Who cares how he died, the thing important is it was too soon.

We just could make a small ceremony at the medico-legal institute when the body was taken away. All the real friends were there, including Tim Armstrong (Rancid) who I think made the trip only to say good bye. My respect goes to him.

So i'll post here some links to pics and places you can download his stuff and songs.

First this friday we will all attend a tribute gig to his memory

Next download some rare mixes from his website here

http://www.thehellboys.com/mp3/player.html

Note these are dance mixes and not representative of the final record, you can hear final version on their myspace here

http://www.myspace.com/thehellboys

connect to the website here

Finally one of my fave pics of him... Go straight to hell, boy.

It's too bad we can't salvage his posts here, The Clash was his passion. We always used to talk about the forum at one point when I visited him. Inder, is there a way you can reupload the old database to a provisional server, so that we can copy-paste all his posts (or the best of them) ? I think there should be a Hellboy thread compiling the best quality exchanges he bought to the community here, I think he should still be found on this board forever, not just this thread. If you still got db saves, then we can upload it to some secret place, where we can then copy paste whatever stuff we think should we salvaged, and then you can take it down.

That's a wonderful thought, Seventeen -- HB posted some great stories here.

I remember he told a few Joe anecdotes, he obviously met Joe on a few occassions.

People here will be happy to learn that Mick Jones daughter performed yesterday a cover of "Train In Vain" at the Nikola Acin tribute.

Here's what one journalist reported on a forum

"This is our last guest, but not least:
LAURA JONES, the daughter of MICK JONES! "The group starts
intro "TRAIN IN VAIN", the most "pop song"
Clash of the directory (and sung by Mick Jones in the
studio version). Long legs and minishort hair
Brown courts, the daughter of Mick Jones has eyes and a
face which is very similar indeed to his father
(logic, of course). It is an interpretation
convincing "TRAIN IN VAIN", with (so
innate) the meaning of the scene and the attitude of a pop singer
Woman.

it´s too sad, terrible...
we will miss you a lot, hellboy.
the tribute from lauren jones was great
one more close to joe for the big clash family up there...
The greatest legacy he leaves is that he made a generation of people think for themselves. He didnt quite manage to change the world but he changed the way people looked at it. It's a sad day - but what a life

Seventeen,

t'aurais pu citer n'importe quel journaliste mais pas FG !!!!

translation : you could have quoted any journalist but not FG !!

I can't help thinking this guy is a geek when he listens to the worst french music and considers "train in vain" as a pop song !!

No tom,

he just scanned and posted this Rock'n'Folk article. He wasn't involved in it.
To explain this private joke, FG is a French "journalist" working for a magazine called "Accordeons & Accordeonists".
You can find his post on many French forum, such as the one i administrate : http://www.oberkampf.net/forum/index.php
Oberkampf was one of the best French punk band of the 80's and Pat (the guitarist) was a real fan of The Clash (he gave me the pictures and the tickets I posted here). you can listen to them at http://www.oberkampf.net
So we call FG the human spam cause he keeps overwhelming the forum with reviews, scans of bands and singers we all hate !
But as we are a free thoughts forum, we just accept him as he is....

Yeah, but he was the only one writing a report on that gig, my heart wasn't in it. I'm sure Nikola would laugh reading this. He probably would have gone seeing Springsteen that night anyway.
Once I sent him a report from Guibert where he was making analogies between Nikola and Paul Simonon on stage "charismatic" "shamanic" whatever. Nikola response via email was "this guy is dog barking mad"

Thanx for the explanation ! I had a good laugh yesterday while reading some threads on your forum.
I can see clearly now ;-)
