I remember back when Thatcher died, and the board was so happy for Purpley that the thread turned into a celebratory round of congratulations for him, even awarding him honorary Death Pool points for 2013 just for the hell of it. Because we just knew how much of a triumph it was for him to outlive the old hag and be well enough to take the victory lap around town. I don't know why, but that was just one of those perfectly IMCT moments that sticks with me over time, and but one moment (of many) putting the exclamation point on how much he's meant to this community over the last 15 years.

Rob...you're a role model for all of us at living life the fucking right way: to the fullest, with no regrets, with gratitude for all that matters and a bucket of piss for all that's bollocks. So my wish for you is: I hope you get to toast the day that Lizard Queenie finally croaks...in health and comfort, surrounded by friends and family, with the best hashish money can buy.

Thanks for all the nice words about him. Means alot that he was thought highly of.

Unfortunately we lost him tonight. Have the Clash on f*cking loud and proud for him wherever you are, I'm sure he can hear it! Would always talk about this place and the charcters and I'm sure I met one or two before Hard-Fi and Big Audio Dynamite gigs with him. Even waited an hour in Cologne to meet someone off here who no-showed on us! He outlasted Thatcher and that was all he wanted the day he was diagnosed, to see that b*tch in the ground before him!

Oh fuck man, my sincere condolences. Totally shocked, what a damn shame.

I will raise a spliff and pint in honour of him tomorrow with suitable sounds.

RIP Rob

So very sorry for your loss. He lived a hell of a life and made a bunch of strangers care about his well being. I'll pour a glass of red in his honour.

Fuck I am so sad to hear that he has passed. More than one of the times that I had the pleasure of his company I got drunk and acted like a wanker but he always took me under his wing and looked after me. I can't express enough of my sympathy to his fine family. He was a true gent and an inspiration. RIP.

That's a damn shame. My condolences.

Yep I met you and Rob in the boozer before the Big Audio Dynamite gig. You took some photos of us if memory serves. I'm really saddened to hear about Rob's passing and offer my condolences. I'll be playing The Ruts in his honour "just for the crack". R.I.P my brother.

Dammit, I am so sorry. I don't mean to sound trite - he was a really good man. Fuck cancer. We are all sending love to you and your family.

Thank you, Rob. Thank you for bringing the hospitality that makes this place more than just an messageboard, but a community of friends spanning both sides of the Atlantic. You were one of the very first IMCT'ers...and completely original in every way. We're better people for having you in our midst.
