The idea that IMCT would long tolerate the mixture of hectoring leftist politics and punk-funk was always farcical, and so Gang of Four have predictably been shown the door. What’s next, ya bunch of Tories?

Costello, I think you've had enough. It's time to leave this particular Holiday Inn.

So the album with the most cover versions has the least votes. So much much for the greatest album of 1979. ;)

The last four is shaping up to be exactly as I predicted five rounds ago. Now the hard bit starts.

The politics are fine it's the funk I'm not so keen on.

Interesting that the Specials have only received 1 elimination vote so far. Maybe its a Specials board after all.

It's just a great album. Maybe a few covers as Marky says but they put their own stamp on them and introduced ska music to a new generation. Great drinking music too.

The most danceable, too. With the music and what the music represents, there's no shame in that album winning.

Yeah I'm not knocking it. I bought it the day it came out and love it. My point is here we are celebrating 1979 and the music that's winning is from 1967.

It doesn't sound like nostalgia or retro at all: it's totally up to date for '79.
