well, before Eat to the Beat gets sent to bed, I want to say that the first 3 songs on side one, "Dreaming". "The Hardest Part" and "Union City Blue" are a strong as a first three anywhere. Including Elvis, Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

That album helped spawn the hardcore movement and it remains one of its finest exemplars. Every track on it is a classic. It's worth remembering that, when the hardcore bands started, Darby and the gang werent keeping up on whatever bullshit storylines NME was running. They had those class of 77 records and just thought this was the next logical step. The pure democratisation of punk rock. That old saw about how punk was something everyone could do? Fuck that, the common shithead couldn't put together NMTB or release a single like New Rose or whatever. But any alienated punk could get together and start a hardcore band. This album that documents the sound of Darby Crash bring punk rock, truly, to the people. And it still fucking slays to this very day.
