I voted to oust WB in this very difficult poll because Joe was mostly unable to pull it off live.
By that logic, y’all need to put Let’s Go Crazy into a freshly dug grave.
Oh did they try it live? I don't think I've ever heard that.

Yeah, I didn't think we were taking into account live versions in these polls.
I am only as a personal metric for voting in an impossible situation, kind of how some people are using whether something is a cover as something to make a decision easier.

There is a version (only one I know of) on a not so great sounding boot from 1981. Spain, I think? From what I recall - it also wasn't pulled off very well live and I don't think they ever tried it again.

That's not too bad. Bass actually sounds pretty solid.

Agreed. Wish they would have given it a few more tries before abandoning it.

Mickey Gallagher would have added a lot to it live as well.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It's pretty decent effort but if anything Mick lets it down by not adding the counterpoint vocal. And it goes on way too long.

Yeah I was wondering if he was abstaining or if his mic wasn't working or something.

Mick could be lazy live. See the lead guitar riffs in I Fought the Law for example.

He often did his duty during things like Spanish Bombs though, right?

No, he often neglected the backing vocals in Spanish Bombs. Stay Free is another one where it has that glorious solo at the end but he hardly ever played it.
