The Who at Kilburn 1977

Post by tepista »

Did anyone see this on PBS last night? I saw most of it, I couldn't hear the guitar, it's like it was off.

Also, I think they are replaying it over the weekend, check your listings.
We reach the parts other combos cannot reach
We beach the beachheads other armies cannot beach
We speak the tongues other mouths cannot speak

I forgot it was on, so I missed the first 30 minutes or so...it was pretty good...hope to watch the whole thing when it's replayed.

Hearing only Entwistle is a worthwhile experience although not exactly a "Who" experience.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I loved the isolated Ox parts on the Who's Next Classic Albums DVD.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but there's a brilliant feature on the Kids are Alright Deluxe Edition DVD where you can have an Ox-Cam for a couple of songs, just his bass playing and him on camera, it's fucking superb.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
