Another point in MCA's favor (and I do like all three of them in context) is that his gruffer voice provides a contrast from the more similar nasal whines of Mike D and Ad-Rock. The shift in style when his verses kick in round out the sound.

So you wanted it to rhyme? The Beasties may well be deeper than you give them credit for. Perhaps it was because Horowitz was the Rock that Rick Rubin built his beats upon, whereas Adam Yauch was a Master of Ceremonies.
