Ad-rock had the most immediate appeal, but i agree with Wolt on the pre-Buddhist MCA.

MCA all the way. Usually, the best part of any Beastie Boys song is when he comes in, ie - Professor Booty (if this board had one of those drooling smilies, I'd use it here).

Plus I touched him once. :shifty:

And I agree with this:

Because Ad-Rock's real name is also Adam. He probably came up with it first.

I officially nominate you Vice Flex in instances where Flex and I fail to agree to 3 significant decimals.

Matedog can be kind of slow sometimes. Probably all the prospector-voiced Jersey factory men in his veins.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Another point in MCA's favor (and I do like all three of them in context) is that his gruffer voice provides a contrast from the more similar nasal whines of Mike D and Ad-Rock. The shift in style when his verses kick in round out the sound.

That's true. It took me a while to differentiate Mike D and Ad-Rock when I first started listening.

I'd probably have a longer conversation with MCA
but a better time with Ad-Rock
and some unexpected finery with Mike D

Do you realize how difficult this poll is for a Jewish girl who grew up in the 1980's? Seriously, did you understand the ramifications of such a poll and how this would perhaps cause a rip in the fabric of space/time continuom? I beg of you, please do not be this irresponsible again.

Oh, and I voted for Yauch. I like his voice.

I am aware of this. It just bothered me that Horowitz=Rock instead of Yauch=rock.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

So you wanted it to rhyme? The Beasties may well be deeper than you give them credit for. Perhaps it was because Horowitz was the Rock that Rick Rubin built his beats upon, whereas Adam Yauch was a Master of Ceremonies.

And of course, the Mike is for Michael and the D is for Diamonds.

What matedog forgets is that all three are licensed to ill, whereas he is not.
