Remix to Ignition isn't a great song, per se, but it's hilarious.

Oh it's so perfect for what it is. And how is this not one of the best couplets ever?:Kaleb wrote:Remix to Ignition isn't a great song, per se, but it's hilarious.
Sipping on coke and rum
I'm like, "So what? I'm drunk."
That and the "choo choo/beep beep" part. It's one of the purest party songs ever.
*EDIT* - And excellent call on "Regulate."
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Agree 100% on Curtis Mayfield. That's a feel good classic.

Re: The list of perfect songs:
Has anybody mentioned Bob Dylan yet? His absence is kind of great. Any song I'd pick by him, I think "well, I only really dig this song because of a memorable cover or one-off live performance." And the canonical ones are just boring now.

Okay, almost nobody brought him up. (Man, out of context it seems like I hate Dylan. I guess I hate Dylan scholars and just get carried away.)
P.S. Couple more:
X - World's A Mess
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - There She Goes, My Beautiful World
New Order - Age of Consent

Re: The list of perfect songs:
There's a definition of "perfect" which includes The Shaggs' "Philosophy of the World" right?
Also, if you actually just had to pick one song, Wolter had it right that it's "God Only Knows"
