Any thoughts on '1970'? It says there are tracks from the 'Self Portrait' sessions, but surely the best from that time were on 'Another Self Portrait'? Is it worth buying for nine George Harrison tracks that were never intended for release?

I've heard most of the Harrison tracks and they're fun but slight, fans who know this material a bit better are excited about all the non-harrison stuff though. I love dylan's voice in those 1970 sessions so I'm excited for this, but it's definitely completest territory. There's a reason none of this is being released under the bootleg series banner.

It was actually released as a copyright extension dump a few weeks ago and it's selling on ebay now for a like a thousand bucks, prompting this wider release. I've pirated the other copyright extension collections, although I do appreciate they're making this one available to the public to buy if they want.

I don't think there's any problem is grabbing this stuff by any means necessary, it's just sort of interesting how this stuff comes about.

How are you listening to it? I know that streaming services have rather notoriously chopped out a lot of those bits buts all there on the proper releases.

Spotify. Looking at the wikipedia track lengths vs. Spotify, yeah, they chopped off a bunch of stuff. That's super lame. Not sure if it was to incentivize the physical release?

Yeah, I have no idea. For all I know this could happen a lot with releases but Bob is one of the few musicians where every second of recording is scrutinized so people just notice it with his stuff.

The Bass Guitar
This one is hard to forgive. Honestly, it churns my stomach just thinking about it. As soon as Dylan plugged in his guitar for the first time, he instructed his bass player to do the same and those 4-string thumb strummers have suffered the delusion that they play a real instrument ever since.
