Yes, not being part of the Bootleg Series had crossed my mind. I'll better think twice about hitting send after a few festive drinks.Flex wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 5:51pmI've heard most of the Harrison tracks and they're fun but slight, fans who know this material a bit better are excited about all the non-harrison stuff though. I love dylan's voice in those 1970 sessions so I'm excited for this, but it's definitely completest territory. There's a reason none of this is being released under the bootleg series banner.

You could pirate it. I mean, Bob ain't hard up for dollars, especially these days.dave202 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 6:33pmYes, not being part of the Bootleg Series had crossed my mind. It was actually released as a copyright extension dump a few weeks ago and it's selling on ebay now for a like a thousand bucks, prompting this wider release. I've pirated the other copyright extension collections, although I do appreciate they're making this one available to the public to buy if they want.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Dec 2020, 7:39pmYou could pirate it. I don't think there's any problem is grabbing this stuff by any means necessary, it's just sort of interesting how this stuff comes about.

For anyone interested in such things, Low just released a cover of Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Re: Deep Bob Dylan Theory 2012

Does this really not include the "Judas" and subsequent banter? What gives?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

We need a whole series of historical concert boots that omit the key part. The Sex Pistols at Winterland without "No Fun," Altamont without the Rolling Stones' set, etc.

How are you listening to it? I know that streaming services have rather notoriously chopped out a lot of those bits buts all there on the proper releases.
Re: Deep Bob Dylan Theory 2012
Spotify. Looking at the wikipedia track lengths vs. Spotify, yeah, they chopped off a bunch of stuff. That's super lame. Not sure if it was to incentivize the physical release?

Yeah, I have no idea. For all I know this could happen a lot with releases but Bob is one of the few musicians where every second of recording is scrutinized so people just notice it with his stuff.matedog wrote: ↑01 Jun 2021, 1:50pmSpotify. lol, burn on kory:
The Bass Guitar
This one is hard to forgive. Honestly, it churns my stomach just thinking about it. As soon as Dylan plugged in his guitar for the first time, he instructed his bass player to do the same and those 4-string thumb strummers have suffered the delusion that they play a real instrument ever since. Thanks a lot, Bob.

I dug this little write-up of Murder Most Foul and what Dylan probably thinks about the JFK assassination: https://lithub.com/what-bob-dylan-does- ... on-of-jfk/
