Easily Morrison, without a doubt. Them, Moondance, Tupelo Honey, Saint Dominic's. He's more than earnt the right to be a boring old fuck in his dotage.

I'm not a fan of the Irishman. Early Van Halen are great. Van McCoy has two of the greatest ever disco records. Van Hagar is married to Jenny.

Tricky one.

Don't forget how Dave brilliantly critiqued the Clash at the US festival.

And how good "Jamie's Crying" is.

"Gloria" is probably one of the most perfectly written and recorded "garage" style song, so even though I'm not a big fan of his post-Them catalog, he is the winner.

I was relying on the West-Coasters to back me on Van Halen. "Running With the Devil" is better than any Van Morrison solo project. Saying that, VM probably wins for "Baby Please Don't Go" alone.

Ugh. I'm about as proud to have Van Halen represent my home city as you are about Baby Spice.

Not accepting that lunacy for a second.

I don't get you Septics. You love Zep and Floyd but hate KISS and Van Halen. Weird.

Astral Weeks makes my dick hard in a slow meandering kind of way.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

My least favourite "Classic Album."

It really does blow my mind.

Of course, so does Ice Cream Man and Dance the Night Away.

I think Morrison's at his most interesting when doing catchy, celtic flavoured soul. But he's done lots of great stuff outside that genre too.

All his songs were done better by Dexys.
