Cool. VM has always been quite cantankerous hasn't he?
Yes and one of the main reasons I adore the man. He just resolutely refuses to play the game. I’ve never been able to get into Astral Weeks, though, for all I love him as an artist.
I dunno, there's refusing to play the game and being a grumpy antagonistic bastard. He seems to fall into the latter sometimes.

What a voice though, shame I don't like most of his material.
I remember buying "Astral Weeks" on the advice of someone. I like two tracks the rest is just average. Give me "Them" anyday of the week.
I had a 60s comp on yesterday and Here Comes the Night came on, such a brilliant record. That last verse is just great.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Yeah that’s how it comes across. I just like his contrarianess, I can see the purpose behind it. Of course it would be a boring world if everybody was like that but I like the sense of integrity and casual indifference it implies in a world where image and PR seems to be sacrosanct.

I do think the extent of his contrariness can be exaggerated though, especially live in concert.

The poll is old, as the runaway winner should clearly be "Rape".

Agreed that's a great track.

I saw this thread and my immediate thought was that I was going to vote for the rape van...but was sad when it was not an option...so please consider this my write in vote.
