Question: Are the alternate, playground lyrics to "Seasons in the Sun" commonly known, or was it a late-70s Saskatchewan kind of thing?

In case the answer is no, here's what I remember of it:
We had joy, we had fun
Sticking fingers up our bum
But the pain was too strong
Cos our fingers were too long
"Ain't no party like an S Club party!'" - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft

I don't know those. But back in my hooligan days as a Man United fan we would sing this to Man City fans and others.

We had joy we had fun
We had City on the run
But the fun didn't last
'Cause the bastards ran too fast

Never heard that one. ;)

Westway Kid already beat you to Terry Jacks.

Anyone ever heard this version? It's not good. Story goes is that Jacks originally had planned to have The Beach Boys record it - and they did...with Jacks producing...but then they thankfully decided to shelve it. Terry Jacks then took it and recorded his own version. The Beach Boys version really is not good. Carl's lead sound half-assed and the sing-song chorus that seems to feature a way too cheerful sounding Al Jardine is icky (I think Bruce is also prominently featured on the chorus).

Ha, ha...this is awesome!

I remember my sister and I found the 45 at a rummage sale when we were kids. We thought it was hilarious. The flip-side is an awful, awful song about a dead dog called Put the Bone In. We'd literally roll around on the floor laughing. The chorus is literally something like "'Put the bone in," she begged him once more" which is still really funny!

Enjoy!

I just listened to it again after many years and I was laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. It is simply awful in the best way!

...and it is about death...so it fits!

I remember the bastards throwing bricks at us in the South Bank at Elm Park. Then us throwing milk bottles back over the stupid chain fence they used to have at the Oxford in the away end. Friendly times.
