There was one non album track that was kind of catchy but Joe didn't sing it. Was it "I Wanna Slit Doc's Throat"?

A lost classic that could have changed everything.

Probably the only Clash original they did really well. But as great as it is it's really just the long intro wit the James Bond lick that makes it. You can include it if you so wish fine sir.

Yeah not too shabby but not better than any number of recordings the original band did with Topper. I do like that version and they had a tough act to follow in all fairness.Inder wrote: ↑27 Jul 2018, 12:43pmAhem.Marky Dread wrote: ↑27 Jul 2018, 12:39pmProbably the only Clash original they did really well. I wish I had a more encylopedic knowledge of the 84/85 shows (or most Clash shows, really. I'm always impressed with how people can summon up favorite versions of songs from specific shows. I don't have that kind of recall, I don't think). Anyways:
1. Three Card Trick (Cut the Crap)
2. This is England (Single)
3. In The Pouring Rain (Live)
4. Are You Ready For War? (Live)
5. Jericho (Live)
The 83 demos deserve a blanket head nod as being of at least some interest in demonstrating this could have, perhaps, been a successful lineup if things had broken very, very differently.

Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5
Funnily enough I was playing that show only last night. I think that version of "Junco" is very good. The problem I have sound wise with Clash II is having the second guitar player sometimes creates this more metallic sound that works okay on the heavier punk songs but not so on the more intricate numbers where It's crying out for Mick's finesse.Inder wrote: ↑27 Jul 2018, 12:53pmTrue say, MD.

But if you stick to the studio stuff, you'll leave out "In the Pouring Rain" -- the best Clash II song ever -- which was only played live (if I recall correctly).

Now that is a song I think is overrated. Good lyrics but I don't think the tune is that great. Nice riff though.
