You are probably right however it still comes across as Medieval torture.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 7:30pmWell, it was invented to a more humane form of capital punishment, and strictly speaking it is the quickest form of execution. Which isn't to say I endorse it, but of the many nasty ways human beings have devised to execute criminals, it's the least painful or likely to fuck up as any other.101Walterton wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 7:12pmNot as ghoulish as the fact that they still used the guillotine as recently as 1977!!!Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 6:31pmThere's something fascinatingly ghoulish about "scientists" being present at guillotine executions looking for evidence of continued or last-second consciousness in the severed heads. I agree. The idea of separating head from body—dividing what is supposed to be one—is unsettling as fuck. Lethal injection or the electric chair leave behind a whole body. But that's all about satisfying the living's sensitivities.101Walterton wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 7:34pmYou are probably right however it still comes across as Medieval torture.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 7:30pmWell, it was invented to a more humane form of capital punishment, and strictly speaking it is the quickest form of execution. Whilst I am 100% against the death penalty you would think lethal injection would be the most humane way to go and even on a high but they manage to fuck that up!!!Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 7:39pmI agree. Switch 4 and 5 and this is my list.Flex wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 5:36pmNot going to be very creative here:
1. Fear of Music
2. More Songs About Buildings and Food
3. Talking Heads: 77
4. Speaking in Tongues
5. Remain in Light
You could make a case for any of their records through '85, imho. Last two are pretty uneven, but a pretty stellar discography, really.

2. New Rose - the Damned
3. Less Than Zero - Elvis Costello

What the hell? "Israelites" was released in something like '67 or '68. Did Stiff re-release it or something? One of my all time fave songs.101Walterton wrote: ↑24 May 2018, 6:39pmConsidering some of my favourite bands are on the label I have limited it to one song per band and still very tough!!

Reissued it in 1980. I used to have a 10'' single of it a long long time ago.muppet hi fi wrote: ↑24 May 2018, 6:56pmWhat the hell? "Israelites" was released in something like '67 or '68. I want "What A Waste" played at my funeral.
