Speaking of the Quo..

This is pretty mediocre and another case against Mike Love. The original is a classic - a straight cover would have still stunk - but changing the lyrics? Ick.

2 of them are from South Shields, sometimes see them knocking about the clubs.

Lots of good Tubeway Army tracks. Do you know any others? Same with Orange Juice. I must admit to liking "Altogether Now" but other than that I never really got the Farm. Marrillion meh. I think "Back for Good" is a good track but don't tell anyone.

Are Friends Electric is amazing, and I do have a soft spot for All Together Now. Shine wouldn't make my list but I like it when I don't want to.

I'm not sure I dislike bands if I don't particularly like their music, so I have tried to think of some singles where I only have one by the band or artist;

Trash - Suede
Shake Baby Shake - Lush
Stan - Enimen
Our Lips Are Sealed - Go Gos
Wake Up Boo - The Boo Radleys

Honourable mention; Therese -The Bodines

As I said earlier I was struggling with this poll as I couldn’t think of songs I liked by a band where there was no other song of theirs I liked.
I picked OJ and TA because those 2 tracks are stand out tracks and so much better than anything else they did, not because I didn’t necessarily dislike the band.
Story Of The Blues by Wah was a close call too. Again not because I dislike Wah (they were average) but because that track is so much better than the rest.

Fair enough mate.

Paging Flex.

Man, the Beach Boys will play with anyone. You even got Brian on this one. And Carl a year or two before his passing.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It really was the end of the road by that point. Brian and Mike had settled their lawsuit and Brian had been in the studio with Andy Paley - but instead of going forward with those sessions they turned out the bad Stars and Stripes Vol. 1 album. I believe the Fun, Fun, Fun cover was done by Status Quo in England and Mike and the gang added their vocals later on. Carl is gone by the end of 1997. Al was out in 1998.

I was surprised to find that Lydon is such a big fan.
I doubt he really is. I think it was more his put down of the Ramones.
I dunno, he talks about Status Quo at length in his newer autobiography. He seems sincere.

So would Status Quo by the looks of it.
