Funky Kingston—Maytals
Funky Drummer—James Brown
Who Got the Funk—The Streets
Overpowered by Funk—The Clash
Quelle coincidence—I did my Beatles lecture today, with some attention paid to "Tomorrow Never Knows" as the dividing line.
1. Tomorrow Never Knows [my favourite Beatles song, still sounds fresh and trippy]
2. She Said She Said
3. And Your Bird Can Sing
4. I'm Only Sleeping
5. For No One
"Grab some wood, bub.'" - Richard Nixon, Checkers Speech, abandoned early draft
I've been bad about getting my Top 5s in, but this one should be a nice and easy 'un:
1. Tomorrow Never Knows
2. She Said She Said
3. Taxman
4. And Your Bird Can Sing
5. Eleanor Rigby
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

5. For No One
I never realised until this morning the drum pattern from "Tomorrow Never Knows" is incredibly reminiscent of "Ticket to Ride".
Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

Marky is there a reason for this Top 5?
Revolver was the first Beatles album I listened to (and bought) when I used to work in a record shop.

Yeah, you're right. Lazy bastards. But the drums on TNK are so hypnotic—one of my favourites on any song—whereas on TTR they're not really noticeable.

Both great but yeah the hypnotic feel of TNK is amazing.

Just playing it this morning. It's been my fave of theirs for years. But Rubber Soul may be it's equal.

I swear, after all these years, whenever I play it I still get a weird sensation in my head when it starts. It just hits my brain perfectly every time. Psychedelic Beatles will always be my Beatles.
