Yeah, it would fit perfectly onto Sandinista Side 6.

Did you like the Phantom Chords cover?
I do. I think I read/heard that Dave Vanian is working on getting their album released.
That's great. You've got that version I did from my old blog?
Yes I have, thanks very much.

Five in chronological order from before the Beatles fucked shit up.
“The Purple People Eater” - Sheb Wooley (June 1958–July 1958 - 6 straight weeks!)
“Sleep Walk” - Santo & Johnny (Sept 1959)
“Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” - Neil Sedaka (August 1962)
“Telstar” - The Tornados (Dec 1962–Jan 1963)
“Surf City” - Jan & Dean (July 1963)
Music wasn't very good before 1964.
Those five are a direct rebuttal, Thag.
I do like Sedaka and the Tornados.
"Sleep Walk" is perfection.
I have heard that before, just never recognised the title. A very nice piece of music.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

It's become one of those ubiquitous songs for movies set in 1950s America. I only learned its title a few years ago.

How many songs have been written over that piece of music??
It is like one of those old Blue Beat tracks where they just change the vocals and use the same backing track.

I actually can't think of any. You mean like adding lyrics?

Not as blatant as actually using the same Blue Beat track, but that piece of music has been copied / pinched / ripped off/ plagiarised many times.

I wouldn't be surprised, I suppose. The entire genre is rooted in stealing and modification.

I'm amusing myself by imagining the situation that would lead to that answer! "Excuse me, you look ravishing tonight, but I do have one question I must ask. Can you boogie?"

I’m familiar with the Shadows version of Sleepwalk but don’t believe I had heard the original before, very smart piece of music.

Looking through the historic list of No.1s i find there are very many I’d see as mediocre. But here’s 5 that I liked which haven’t seen mentioned yet.

Mississippi- Pussycat
If - Kojak
19 - Paul Hardcastle
Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury
Get Down - Gilbert OSullivan
